Whether you've played the original Broken Sword on PC or not, this Director's Cut version for DS is well worth picking up.I was not the only person to greet the launch of the Nintendo DS with more bewilderment than joy. Fortunately, the script is good enough to stand on its own. The only downside is that the DS version lacks the excellent voice acting of Rolf Saxon. If the user holds down the START or SELECT buttons upon launching Nintendo DS software, the emulated screens will be displayed in the Nintendo DSs native resolution, albeit smaller with black borders. To draw in those who had already played the game, though, the Director's Cut added new puzzles specifically suited to the DS touchscreen, animated facial expressions, and a brand new complementary storyline which follows George's fellow adventurer Nico Collard to new locations and adds more depth to the original story. The original DS display resolutions are displayed in a scaled and stretched fashion due to the increased resolution of the 3DSs screens. The dual-screen touch elements of the Nintendo DS work extremely well with the point-and-click style of play and Broken Sword is one of the best games in the genre to show this.
